The Feast
The feast is the cherished gluttony of Renn Fayre. Midday on Saturday there is a campus wide feast held in the quad for reedies to stuff their faces silly with yummy non-commons food. This event fosters a great sense of community as we all wait in line (except those brave enough to pict) for the meal of the weekend. The feast also serves the practical purpose of putting some food in our bellies before the festivities of Saturday night hit campus like a run away freight train. The feast is funded, and run, by students. The money to finance such a decedent event comes from boardpoint donations throughout the year and student body funds. And all the cooking, preparation, and clean up falls on student shoulders as well (though we are graciously allowed to use the kitchens in commons), which is where volunteers become so very important.
Volunteers are needed the week leading up to Renn Fayre, starting Tuesday and continuing through Friday night, to help prepare food. These shifts will include lots of chopping, stirring, spicing, baking, and combining. If you love to cook, or want to learn how to properly handle a knife, you should come and help us get ready for the feast. Sign up for one slot or several. No previous cooking experience is necessary, everyone can help. Any volunteers with a food handler's license should contact the Feastmaster.
On Saturday volunteers will be needed to set up, pass out food to the line (aka, push a vat of chocolate through a throng of starving college kids), serve, and clean up. We will need all the help we can get on Saturday to pull the feast off.
If you already have some cooking experience or a food handler's license and would like to help the feastmasters keep everything rolling smoothly, sign up to be a Sous Chef.<\p>
All volunteers MUST have short sleeves, close-toed shoes and hair pulled back or cut short. Gloves will be provided.
Feastmasters are Jeryl Hewey, Kevin Lynagh, and Dan Glaser .
